The enormous turnip

"the turnip's ready," said the former, one morning. But he can't pull it out of the groung. Soon he has a string of helpers but the turnip just won't budge. How big can turnip be?

I read the story in Japanese when I was a  young. One  day, the former find a enormous turnip, and he try to pull it out. However it doesn't move whatever he does. After a while, his wife and son come to the  form. And then, they try to pull it out again. Many times they try and try, then the turnip is pulled out the ground. This story reminds me of my childhood.
